Delicious & Very Convenient Pre-Cut Organic Broccoli — Just Wish It Was A Little Fresher Than It Was
I got this 10 oz bag of 365 by Whole Foods Market, Organic Broccoli Florets from Whole Foods Market when the 2 lb bag of organic pre-cut broccoli florets that I usually get from Costco was out of stock for several days. After trying repeatedly to get it from Costco, only for it to be unavailable, I finally gave up and just ordered it from Whole Foods Market — and for the most part, it was pretty good.In the past, I used to buy the full-size (uncut) organic broccoli (and prior to “going organic” around 2008-2010, I’d get the full-size conventional, non-organic broccoli) and just cut it at home. But even though cutting broccoli is not rocket science, to be honest, I HATE certain cruciferous vegetables like broccoli and cauliflower because I have autism & sensory processing disorder (among other issues!) and I can’t stand the little broccoli and cauliflower “crumbs” that end up on (and often cling to!) the cutting board when cutting these veggies at home. So I prefer to buy these particular vegetables pre-cut (but just THESE veggies — like I have no problem with cutting lettuce, zucchini, tomatoes, or bell peppers myself) whenever & wherever possible. Also, besides being able to avoid the mess that results when cutting broccoli and cauliflower, another advantage to buying broccoli and cauliflower pre-cut, is that its right on hand & ready to eat anytime one feels like having a little snack. So rather than choosing some sugar/carb and toxic additive-filled GMO junk with empty calories to munch on instead these broccoli florets (or the equivalent 10 oz bag of 365 by Whole Foods Market Organic Cauliflower Florets) with an organic ranch (or other flavor) dip, or guacamole, or hummus are a much better and more nutrient-dense option………………..although sometimes I still DO splurge on these Simply Organic White Cheddar Doritos Tortilla Chips or organic cookies, granola bars and other semi-unhealthy organic junk food! 😈Nevertheless, I LOVE pretty much ALL fruits (except grapefruit) and ALL vegetables (except beets) including cruciferous veggies like broccoli, cauliflower & Brussels sprouts — and these 365 by Whole Foods Market, Organic Broccoli Florets are pretty good and extremely versatile, able to be enjoyed both raw, such as with the dips mentioned above, as well as cooked recipes. One of my favorite ways of eating broccoli, (aside from munching it raw with dip) is to preheat the oven to 400ºF, and then, while the oven is heating up, take this bag of pre-cut organic broccoli florets and pour the desired amount into a big enough mixing bowl, and toss it with a healthy oil like olive oil or avocado oil (I never buy or use canola or other so-called “healthy” vegetable oils itself — but since its in practically EVERYTHING these days, unfortunately, it can’t really be avoided completely either!).Once the broccoli is fully coated with oil, sprinkle it with some kosher salt, as well as a bit of pepper to taste, and any other seasonings desired (such as garlic powder & onion powder) and stir it all together. After the salt & seasonings are thoroughly incorporated into the broccoli, pour the entire mixture on a baking tray lined with parchment paper, and spread it out into a single layer. Then depending on the amount of broccoli and how crisp & tender OR soft it needs to be (like when making it for a family member who, due to problems with his teeth, I cook it for longer because he has problems with chewing hard[er] stuff so I cook it for enough time for it to become soft — but when cooking it just for myself or others, I cook it for less time, so that the broccoli stays crisp and tender without becoming soft) roast the broccoli in the oven for 15-20 minutes or more at 400ºF. As soon as the broccoli has cooked to the desired level of crispness/tenderness, remove it from the oven and toss all the broccoli in the pan together to get re-coated with whatever oil and seasonings are on the parchment paper lining, and then serve. Its absolutely DELICIOUS!There isn’t that much else to say about these organic broccoli florets. For the most part they are pretty good, though I did deduct one star both because a few of the florets were not very fresh, and becoming brown/black and started to look a bit slimy — AND because I don’t think 10 oz bag of broccoli florets is that great of a price for the $4.29 I think that it was that I paidBut overall they were good, especially after I roasted them as described above!⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4 STARS!!!!!!!!!
