cute and unique craft kit at a pretty good price
I tried this puffy 3D drawing kit with my three year old and it’s a really interesting craft idea.The animals start as flat compressed sponge cutouts with designs printed on them. Kids color them using the included acrylic markers (which are actually really nice quality). After the coloring dries, you place the piece in a dish with water and the sponge absorbs the water, expands, and puffs up into a thicker shape.The kit includes little keychain attachments, which is a cute idea. They’re reasonably sturdy, though the hole-punched area could probably tear if a child pulls on it hard.One thing to know is that the marker colors will bleed once water is added, so the finished artwork won’t have super crisp lines. I also wrote my daughter’s name on the back of ours and it was hard to read after it dried, which gives an idea of how the ink spreads.You’ll also need drying time between steps, so it works best for kids who are okay waiting a bit between parts of the activity.My three year old enjoyed it, but I think kids around 5–7 might get even more out of it. It’s a fun rainy-day craft and something different from the usual coloring or sticker activities.Overall it’s a cute and unique craft kit at a pretty good price. It would also work really well for a playdate, homeschool activity, or birthday party craft.

Clever idea puffy painting and fun craft for kids!
Ok, so first off, let’s spill the beans on what this is: They’ve squeezed and dried white sponges and then put black lines on them to color in.It sounds so simple, but the result is really cool and fun! You just have the kids color it, then add some water to watch the sponge expand and get puffy while your design you’ve painted still looks great!The colors change a little when it expands (they get a little lighter). These are durable sponges that don’t shrink again when it dries (once it’s expanded, that’s the end).This is a fun kit that you just open up, and explain to the kids, and they can manage it from start to finish.

Cute concept, Didn’t like the execution
This is a Magic Puffy 3D Foam Art Painting Kit that I got for my kids, who are ages 7 and 9. I thought it would be a fun and creative project, and while it definitely had some unique elements, it didn’t quite live up to my expectations.First off, the kit comes with 15 sponge cutout animal shapes and 12 acrylic markers, which sounds great in theory. The kids enjoyed coloring the shapes, but I was a bit disappointed to find that the foam pieces are just compressed sponge. They’re not really “puffy” as I had hoped. I was expecting a thick, fun texture, more like 3d textures, but it felt more like painting on flat shapes. The sponge expands and just makes it thicker.One thing to note is that the colors can run if you aren’t careful with the water droplet pens. We had a few moments where the paint dripped more than intended, which led to some unintended color mixing. This could be a real frustration for younger kids who aren’t as steady with their hands yet. The age range listed is ages 6 to 12, so my kids were right in that range.While the concept of this kit is really cool and encourages creativity, I’m not sure it’s worth the price. It was a fun activity for a moment, but it didn’t hold their attention for long, and I think we could have had just as much fun with simpler, less expensive art supplies. Overall, it’s a neat idea, but there are definitely better options out there for artistic kids.

My kids had a lot of fun
This drawing kit was fun for both my kids. The markers work great and colors went on smoothly onto the compressed sponges. The cut outs were very cute and there was a large variety of animals. My kids enjoyed the whole process of picking out their favorites, coloring and then playing with water. This kept them entertained for quite a while and priced well.
