This toss and catch ball set is really fun. There are no directions so you just have to kind of guess how to play with it. Here's my assumption: – One side of the paddle is rough so it's meant to be used with the felt balls so that it's a toss-and-stick game. For that purpose, it works well. The Velcro is strong enough to catch and hold the balls, and it's kind of fun to play with a paddle rather than a velcro mitt. – The other side of the paddle is smooth so it's meant to be used with the hard plastic balls as a sort of ping pong/tennis/pickleball type thing. This isn't quite as successful as it could be because the balls don't bounce very well. If you just toss back and forth in the air, it bounces great off of the paddle. You just can't bounce it from a table or floor in between hits. Note: When the ball hits the paddle it makes an incredibly satisfying plunk sound that's hard to describe but is really neat. – The felt balls with tails can probably be used either to toss and catch by hand or as catch-and-release balls with the velcro side of the paddle. They're a little cumbersome for the latter but a lot of fun with the former–and the rainbow tail makes them easy to catch and throw. Overall, this is a really fun set. I do wish it came with directions but otherwise I can't say enough good things about it.

Then we’d been playing for only about 30 minutes before one of the paddles ripped and a rainbow tail ball also bust a seam. I can definitely sew the balls back together, but cannot fix the paddle. If I paid $40 for this set, I would be upset. This is very cheaply made; don’t waste your money. The whole thing is such a good idea- right down to the bag everything fits in. The paddles sticky side is incredibly sticky, (my toddler even struggled a bit to pull the stuck ball from the paddle!) which is good except you have to rip the balls off the paddles, quickly wearing down both. The hard side used with the hard balls makes a fabulous sound that we all giggled about. Better than the pickleball plink sound. More like a doink. This toss and catch ball set is really fun. There are no directions so you just have to kind of guess how to play with it.
