Our story began when an entrepreneurial vet Tom and his wife Lyn decided to create a line of nutritional supplements, dermatological treatments and shampoos for cats, dogs and horses that would outperform everything else available. They created Tomlyn. These trailblazers set a new standard in product quality, efficacy and consistency making Tomlyn’s among the first specialty healthcare products for cats, dogs and horses. Since then, our products have continued to set the bar for over-the-counter supplements and have earned us membership as a part of the National Animal Supplement Council.

Tomlyn’s mission then — like today — remains the same. We believe that if you maintain a strong, clear focus on doing what is right for pets with on-staff veterinarian oversight, the formulas created will be of a similar level to those recommended by and sold in veterinary offices.

Tomlyn Laxatone Hairball Remedy Oral Gel for Cats, Digestive Lubricant for HairballsTomlyn Laxatone Hairball Remedy Oral Gel for Cats, Digestive Lubricant for Hairballs

Cats naturally shed their coats, and they’ll inevitably ingest fur as they self-groom. Though grooming and bathing your cat helps eliminate loose hair, some fur will still reach their stomach. Your cat’s digestive system cannot digest hair, leading to the formation of troublesome hairballs. These hairballs can lead to blockages within your cat’s digestive system.

We developed Tomlyn Laxatone Gel for cats who have problems passing hairballs. We’ve added oils that act as gentle digestive lubricants. Laxatone coats hairballs and allows them to pass through the digestive system for elimination in your cat’s stools. Better and more comfortable for your cat, and better for your floor!

Laxatone Gel for Cats is super easy to dose and administer – simply place the recommended amount under your cat’s nose or on the paw so they may lick and enjoy the gel as they self-groom. You may safely give our Hairball Remedy Gel for Cats daily to aid in the elimination and prevention of hairballs.

    Easy to use
This works well for my cats. It seems to keep the hairballs to a minimum.

    Works for my cat
My fussy cat loves the tuna flavor! It helps with hairballs and occasional constipation. I put about a 1/2-3/4 of a tsp on her plate and she licks it right up.

    Gets the job done
My baby, Bitty, was constipated. She normally poops daily and she hadn’t pooped a good poop in 2 days. She had only pooped a couple very small (quarter sized) poops in 2 days and she seemed to be in discomfort. I already had this product from the summer when she seemed to be hacking up more hairballs. This was actually the first time she had ever been constipated. She is 5 years, and 2 months old, and her undercoat just recently came in over the summer (bad timing, I know!) and we also recently got a kitty that she cleans too. Anyway- I tried just feeding it to her on a spoon thinking it would be like a treat, no go. I tried mixing it with her wet food that she gets in the morning, no go. So I asked my co-worker that had recommended it, she said to mix it with Gerber baby food, I tried all the flavors I thought she might like, no go. So then I followed the instructions on the label that basically say if you can’t mix it, put it on their nose or paws. It’s extremely sticky so I felt really bad doing this, and I’m sure you will too if you love your animal, which I have no doubt you do since you’re still reading this. Anyway, I put it on her paw and of course, since she’s a clean freak, she licked it off (it took awhile, when I say it’s sticky, I mean sticky.) The next morning I expected a big poop in the litter box and there wasn’t one. So I doubled the dose the second day, around the same time. She was still having like 3-4 quarter sized poops, so on the third day, I tripled the dose. And please don’t do what I did! It is not in the directions on the back at all. I’m a nurse, so of course, I think I am above directions- which I am not, and I know I should know better, but of course I started googling complications of constipation in cats, and mega-colon and all these things came up so I figured diarrhea was better than death. (Since as a nurse I’m programmed to think worst case scenario all the time). Anyway on the 4th day she started having diarrhea and it lasted for about 3-4 days. The first couple poops that came out were hard and firm from where she was constipated, but after that my poor baby lived by the litter box for the next couple days. I say that to say this- the product 100% works. Don’t be like me and try to rush the results. ESPECIALLY if you have an older cat. Luckily my Bitty is only 5, but if she was elderly I could have dehydrated her! Anyway the product is amazing and works, only downside is your cat might not like the flavor or texture, but if he or she needs it then I’m sure you’ll find a way to get it down. Also now that Bitty is all better, i started giving her hairball control dry food, and I put a probiotic supplement in her wet food in the morning to keep her regular. It’s been about a month since the constipation, and we haven’t had any issues.

From Meow tuna yum to meow tuna yuck
The first 2 times I purchased this product I would have given it 5 stars. Back then not only did it help the furball problem; but my 2 cats loved the tuna flavor. So much so that I was calling it their furball candy. they were coming to me to get it and eating it from the tube. The last 2 tubes , still the tuna flavor, all they do is see the tube and run away. I have still used it but it is the once again fight and pushing the sticky stuff into the fur on their legs so they can’t shake it off. It’s just a shame that the tuna flavor now even smells like maple and who knows what it tastes like since I do have one cat that likes sweets.

My cats hate it and it didn’t help anyway, ended up trashed.
I’ve tried a few hairball remedies over the years, but this one is the worst for us. First off, my long-haired cat (who usually licks anything tuna-flavored) absolutely despise this gel. The second I put a dab on her paw or my finger, she freaks out, wipes it everywhere, and runs off. Even mixing it into wet food didn’t work—they just pick around it and leave a mess. I’ve wasted so much trying to force it on them.Worse, after almost two weeks of struggling to get any in them, they still hacked up two massive hairballs and had some loose stools that I’m pretty sure came from the gel being too harsh on their system. No reduction in vomiting or hairball issues at all.Save your money and try something else like a different brand or malt paste that cats actually tolerate. This was a total fail for my picky eaters. Wouldn’t recommend. 😿

    Good alternative
Very good and well received. Our cat really needed this and it is a good alternative to high vet costs

Good product, but the price is OBSCENE.
It works well for preventing hairballs, but the price of a small tube has become astronomical. I checked my previous orders, and it was literally 1/3 the price less than 10 years ago ($5 vs $15+ now). And for what? It’s basically just petroleum jelly with some flavoring.

    spoiled kitty
This is the only brand of hairball remedy that my cat will lick right out of the tube. She prefers the tuna flavor and no other will do.

One of my cats is a MLH cat so she has an issue with hairballs. I give this to her on a regular basis to make sure that the hairballs pass through her system & it works! I have also used this after surgery to other cats, when their system is ‘off kilter’ with success. It is gentle product & causes no distress. Most cats get used to the Tuna flavour, & giving it to them has never been a problem.

Our very long-haired cat hated it being put on her paws or nose and ran away, dropping the product over the tiles and carpet. I tried to put small bits on outside the house – she is on a lead – which proved very difficult, so I gave it away. I still have the full tube and may try again with reward should I have any success. In the mean time we have started to squeeze a salmon oil capsule on to her nightly wet food and she is bringing up very few hair balls.Thank you for asking.
