So much extra utility, For a few cents more. The darker colored side adds durability and is useful when high reflectivity(light and/or heat) is not desired. The larger size means you could cover a second person or potentially improvise a shelter. In their individual zip bags they’re very compact. Me, I put a few pieces of all weather tape, some cordage and book of matches/few birthday candles maybe a taped snap blade right in the zip bag.

This product tis great to have when you need to stay warm. I keep them in my car, my purse even. There are many use for them one would be to place on windows to stop wind or tent the kids in the house if the lights go out. I like the safety aspect of these emergency thermal blankets. Stock up!
