Why can’t some cat urine be detected? Won’t it work on cat urine?
The pet urine contains phosphorus and protein (mainly phosphorus), these minerals and elements will fluoresce under UV light, thereby detecting dry pet urine that is invisible to the naked eye. If some cats are low in phosphorus in their food and drinking water, their urine is also low in phosphorus, causing their urine to be undetectable by UV flashlights.
Why make sure the surface is completely dry?
Because black light UV light flashlight is only effective for detecting dry pet urine. Fresh pet urine, pet urine that is not completely dry, air humidity or superabsorbent materials may cause the light emitted by the purple flashlight to be very weak or not glow. For the most obvious fluorescence from UV light flashlight, allow the pet urine to dry completely before attempting to locate the stain with UV light flashlight. Only in this way can the UV flashlight be used to the extreme.

Great small bright UV flashlight highly recommend.
I received my order today which included the UV flashlight. It arrived exactly as described by the seller. I tested it’s operating brightness for visibility and overall quality. I found it to be more than adequate UV lighting with a range of approximately 30 feet for high quality observation and after that it would depend on the environmental conditions outdoors and indoor. It’s small enough to carry easily and very easy to use. But for me it’s a great addition to my flashlight inventory. I highly recommend this product and seller.

Effectiveness depends upon surface examined
I bought this to help isolate areas where my recently incontinent elderly retriever was leaving urine, so that I clean as small an area as possible with a carpet machine or a hard floor machine. UV light like this causes uric acid crystals to fluoresce. The crystals are very small, but numerous in saturated areas. Using the light for the first time, I am reassured that cleaning removes most or all of the urine. The effectiveness depends a lot on the surface being examined. I have new carpet, marketed as pet resistant, with a speckled pattern to hide dirt. The speckled pattern also makes visualizing the crystals hard. It is much easier to see dried urine on the wood laminate floor and thus to clean only the places in need. The color of the surface is less important than the consistency of that color. The glow of the crystals is apparent on any homogeneous background. It makes me feel cruel, but I have confined both dogs (one without incontinence) to the hard floor areas of my house because it is not only harder to see the urine on carpet, it is also much harder to clean. The moisture imparted to the carpet causes the smell to persist for 24 to 72 hours even when the urine is mostly removed. Anyway, this light is partially effective in delineating areas in need of cleaning and thus reducing the need to clean the whole room, and for that reason helpful.

Good for price for uranium glass
You can buy 2 packs on Amazon for the same price as this single flashlight—which I’ve done—but this is way better. The 2 for the same price were so dull I had to hold them a few inches away from the uranium glass even in the dark. This picture is from about a foot away—nice and bright. Worth the money for uranium glass.
