One of a kind niche book
Before buying this book, a potential reader should ask themselves ‘What am I prepping for?’. If you’re prepping for a natural disaster, economic shortages, relatively contained political unrest, this book is for you. If you’re prepping for total grid down, collapse of the state, technological reset, you may not find all the answers in this book – for example, gasoline engines can be converted to run on alcohol, and diesel can be created from plastic bottles, but none of that information is covered. The book does cover an EMP scenario that could knock out all computer chips – people who are preparing for that would want a vehicle without computer chips, so computerized vs mechanical vehicles is discussed. There’s good information for evacuating minor natural disasters, and the author is knowledgeable about which modern vehicles are good and which to avoid, hence the 5 stars. Also a useful chapter on using animals for transportation.

Good read
This was a good book to help prepare for any kind of situation where you need to leave fast. It had great tips on organizing, how to save on fuel, and how to drive in any condition. I would say that it was redundant at times to where the author would repeat himself about different terrain’s, weather, how to prepare pets, children, or elderly. However, this was a good book to help practice and prepare for any event and how to leave and think about the journey when it comes time to evacuating.

Highly Recommended without seeming Alarmist
Admittedly I had no idea what a bug-out vehicle was when I picked up this book. However I do live in Hurricane Alley, so I felt it prudent that I check it out. This book is a well thought out look at disaster prepping and planning a means of transportation during an environmental crisis. Packed full of useful tips and general self-preservation knowledge, this book is well written, accessible and quite eye opening to the many aspects of disaster preparation and ensuring you have a reliable means of transportation and self preservation during an unfortunate situation. As well prepared as you may think you are, chances even the most prepared person will find something they didn’t consider within the pages of this book. A Highly recommended read without seeming alarmist or sensationalized!

A Mobile Lifeline
This book turned my perspective on disaster prep upside down; showing me how to make an SUV, into a reliable lifeline instead of just a ride. The straightforward guidance on selecting compact gear and planning evacuation routes was clear and easy to follow. I valued the focus on practical needs, like blending in during high-stress situations to stay safe. The bonus checklists and foot escape guide were thoughtful additions that rounded out the advice. It’s a solid, and direct read for anyone wanting to be ready when crisis hits.

Peace of Mind on Four Wheels
This book makes prepping for disasters feel less overwhelming and more like a smart, everyday habit. The author uses easy-to-understand language and lots of examples, so you know exactly what to do to get your vehicle ready. I liked the chapters on making checklists, storing extra supplies, and practicing your escape plan with your family. The book even talks about special needs, like traveling with pets or helping older family members. A few sections could use more pictures, but the clear instructions and positive tone make it a great choice for beginners.

Comprehensive
I never really thought about a mobile survival plan before, but after reading this book it made me think that I should be putting one together. It is never a bad idea to be prepared. The topics and ideas in this book seem like a lot of work but most likely worth it. It was very informative.

perfect for beginners
I’m not a hardcore survivalist, but picked this up because I love to know “just in case “ something happens. This book was great for beginners. The emergency planning felt manageable. It provides some great tips for what to pack, organization, and even odd things I didn’t consider like how maximize your fuel in the event of shortage. Highly recommend for beginners like myself who want to feel empowered and not paralyzed in an emergency.

This is the one line that stuck in my head the most after reading the book. The book covers North America driving for the most part. It is quite detailed. Despite being the first time for me reading this type of book, I do see the value it presents. Hopefully the knowledge gained from this reading can save some valuable time and money sometime in the future!

Ganz okayes Buch mit ein paar soliden Tipps, aber vieles war mir schon bekannt. Wer komplett neu ins Thema einsteigt, findet hier sicher nützliche Infos. Für Fortgeschrittene eher Wiederholung. Schreibstil sachlich, Checklisten sind praktisch.

This book breaks down how to turn any vehicle into a dependable mobile bug-out setup. How to choose routes, and stay under the radar. The bonus checklists and foot escape plan are sick. It’s straightforward, no fluff, and motivates you to get prepared before it’s too late. Solid for preppers!
