After deep diving cat fountains a bit obsessively before buying this one, I can confidently say this was one of the best choices on Amazon.The stainless steel doesn’t get anywhere near as funky and gummed up as fast as its plastic counterparts. I bought a popular plastic fountain before this one, and that had slime on it after 3 days of not cleaning it. Meanwhile I tested this one by letting it go for two weeks, and there was no buildup of anything. (I did this for a test, the cat didn’t drink out of it during)Not only is it easy to clean, it’s most importantly EASY TO PUT BACK TOGETHER. Countless times I’ve put my other fountain together only to have the flow of water for some reason not make it out of the top, requiring me to take it apart again and fiddle with it until all the parts are lined up in the exact perfect way. You slap this thing back together, and things just work.Overall, this fountain should be your choice as a cat owner. Although you don’t have to clean it as much, please remember to change the water regularly, replace the filters on a schedule, and clean it for the health of your kitties!

Pump keeps getting covered in biofilm every couple of days, and I’m having to thoroughly deep clean the entire fountain and all its parts and take apart the pump itself every 2-3 days because this bright pink colored biofilm quickly creeps into all the deep crevices in the plastic pump that are impossible to properly clean because one part of it can’t be opened up to clean inside it, and no brush tool is able to get into all its crevices and nooks and crannies. I change the water out daily. I deep clean the entirety of the water fountain inside and out and every possible surface area i can possibly reach with the cleaning brush that came with my replacement filters i recently ordered more of.. even that cant get everything sadly. So despite deep thorough cleaning, scrubbing, cleansing with soap and rinsing with hot water for over an hour to make sure no soap residue remains, and taking apart the pump and scrubbing every part of it thats accessible to actually get to, and doing all this every couple days, it’s getting really exhausting. I regret getting this fountain. Actually I regret not bothering to check out the negative reviews and common complaiints for this product. i purchased this because of its stainless steel design and its multiple modes of filtration.. but none of that means anything and is useless if the product is going to come with a fully plastic pump that is designed so poorly that its dozens of crevices, internal nooks and crannies and little corners and slots and internal mechanics and housing cover that just can’t possibly be completely reached in order to actually effectively kill the bacteria when performing a deep clean. The fact I have to deep clean it every couple days yet the pink biofilm spreads just as fast, makes it obvious there are internal spaces that are probably covered in the bacteria and have permanently set up shop in those exact deep dark inaccessible nooks and crannies inside the pump.. no, actually inside the parts of the pump. because you can indeed take apart the pump, but theres a part that needs to be able to disconnect into two separate parts so that the internal slots in that part of the pump can be opened up and actually cleaned internally. Until then I’m stuck with having to race against time as the pink biofilm rapidly re-establishes its presence in the parts of the pump that is accessible and possible to clean,but the bacteria has its permanent ecosystem its able to rapidly proliferate in and continue to spread back to the parts i can reach when deep cleaning.. owning this fountain has become the biggest chore in my apartment.. and as time goes on i worry what this could possibly be doing to the health of my cats. (Pink biofilm in cat water fountains and pumps is known to be a bacteria called serratia marcescens)
